Special Education
BEAM's Special Education department works closely with teachers, curriculum coordinators, and RtI specialists to ensure that all special education students receive the same high quality education as their regular education peers. Activities and assignments are based on the child's abilities and learning goals. Special education teachers communicate regularly with the parents to ensure full compliance with IEPs and to help parents understand how to best help their child at home. The special education teachers show caring and compassion to each of their special education students.
Special Education Staff
Lenora Brown - This is Mrs. Brown's eighth year at BEAM.
Lynda Ploeger - I have been a teacher for almost 25 years. I have taught at BEAM for 7 years. I earned my degrees at UW-Milwaukee and am licensed to teach Special Education. I enjoy hiking and spending time with my family and friends. One of my favorite quotes is by Linda Conway, "It is not what is poured into a student that counts, but what is planted."
Peg Lane - I have been teaching for 13 years and this is my fourth year at BEAM. My licenses include Elementary Education, Cognitively Disabled, Principal, and Director of Instruction. I have also completed the coursework for the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services certifications. My favorite quote is by John Whitehead, "Children are the living message we send to time we will not see." I love to see children progress not only academically but also within themselves - growing in integrity, courage, and respect for themselves and others. Outside of school I love to spend time with my four children - going to basketball games, floating down rivers in the summer, cookouts, walking during fall colors, and kicking and watching "ridiculousness" and laughing together!
Latasha Burks - Mrs. Burks has been teaching at BEAM for 2 years.
Miranda Coleman - Ms. Coleman has been teaching at BEAM for 8 years.
