About BEAM

The Business of Learning

The Business and Economics Academy of Milwaukee, which opened in 2001, is a tuition free, public Charter School and is now educating approximately 820 students in grades PreK-8.

The school is an Independent, Non-instrumentality Charter School chartered by Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) through the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, which is 1 of 3 chartering authorities in the Milwaukee area.

BEAM is operated by the BEAM Board of Directors and day-to-day operations are managed by the leadership team employed by the Academy.

All teachers at BEAM are certified.

BEAM is a Guidestar Exchange member.  GuideStar Exchange is a program that connects transparent and credible nonprofits with grantmakers and donors.  As a member, BEAM has taken the time to help close the knowledge gap in the nonprofit sector and, thus, is considered to be among the most transparent.  Research shows that transparency is important for supporters.
